The Innovative Digital Education Alliance (IDEA) awarded Mallory MacDonald, Mount Pleasant, Michigan, a $1,000 VanNahmen Student Excellence Award for use towards their master’s degree in family & community services from Michigan State University.
The IDEA Cabinet grants the awards following a review of students’ academic and professional goals. MacDonald is one of five students to receive the scholarship this year, which was awarded on July 1.
To qualify, MacDonald needed to be attaining a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, or certificate in an IDEA degree program from an IDEA member university. Michigan State University is MacDonald’s home university, though their coursework could come from any of the six universities collaborating in the family & community services program.
Nineteen accredited universities are members of IDEA, a solution to quality online degrees since 2000. In various combinations, universities together offer nine human sciences and nine agriculture programs online.
The VanNahmen Student Excellence Award is named in honor of former IDEA Executive Director, Carol (Gould) VanNahmen. VanNahmen made a tremendous impact on the alliance and students over her 15-year tenure at IDEA, which will continue through this award.
