Four undergraduate HDFS majors, Amany Al Rabiah, Zainab Alsalihi, Jasanti Johnson and Emily Mason are part of the 2024-2025 Women’s Leadership Institute (WLI) cohort. The WLI is a collaborative effort between Michigan State University, alumni, professional women, and current students; and it is designed to support and empower women students with leadership aspirations.
“I hope to make an impact by fostering meaningful relationships, amplifying underrepresented voices, and inspiring others to lead with compassion and purpose,” Jasanti Johnson said. “This experience will help me continue to build the skills and confidence I need to drive positive change in my community and beyond.”
The program’s mission is to ignite women leaders with a vision of advancing leadership equity for women globally through thought leadership, creating a sustainable community, and providing high quality programming for our students, faculty and the MSU community.
“Being part of this leadership cohort is an opportunity to grow, collaborate, and contribute to a shared vision,” Zainab Alsalihi said. “I’m excited to engage with diverse perspectives, learn from others, and challenge myself to think and act strategically."
This select group of student leaders will be able to participate in meaningful conversations with experienced and successful women leaders from diverse backgrounds. The students will also be able to build personal portfolios and resumes, with real-time feedback from experienced professionals. The group will have several networking and mentoring opportunities, along with exclusive scholarship opportunities.
“Being a part of WLI means that I get to be a part of the bigger community of women who not only can help us strive and become better but also creating strong relationships with our peers,” Amany Al Rabiah said.
