Hye-Jin Park is a doctoral student in Human Development and Family Studies with a concentration in Diversity, Youth, and Family Development. Her faculty advisor is Dr. Desiree Qin. Hye-Jin’s research interests broadly include family and sibling relationships, parenting, and culture. Her research takes a culturally sensitive and decolonizing approach to better understand the nuanced interplay among ... family relationships, sibling dynamics, and parenting on immigrant youth’s well-being. Presently, Hye-Jin is working on her dissertation on understanding sibling caregiving in Korean immigrant families. Her research draws heavily from Family Systems theory, Ecological Systems theory, and interdependent/independent self-construal theory. Hye-Jin has a broader goal of translating research into effective community programs and bringing findings back to the immigrant communities.
