Biography

My name is Anissa L. Eddie (she/her/hers), and I am a doctoral candidate studying Child Development in the department of Human Development and Family Studies. My advisor is Dr. Claire Vallotton. I am interested in leveraging research to inform public policy in order to increase equitable outcomes for young children and families – particularly within the contexts of birth equity, identity development, ... and social determinants of health.

Grounded in sociocultural theory and ecological frameworks, my translational research aims to inform parents, families, early childhood educators, and policy makers as they invest in babies and build systems that enable all children to thrive. I am currently working toward my dissertation which will focus on examining parental beliefs and practices related to the ethnic-racial socialization of infants and toddlers.
