Our Vision....

Elevated struggles in childhood, late adolescence and early adulthood, such as poor mental health and violent victimization, can be exacerbated by social disparities and disproportionately impact individuals from less-advantaged backgrounds. This thematic area, relying on intervention science and community-engaged research, aims to improve opportunities, social conditions, and reduce disparities in health and well-being among marginalized youth. Michigan State University’s Department of Human Development and Family Studies will lead this collaborative, interdisciplinary effort that includes faculty from the Schools of Criminal Justice and Social Work.
