2023 Outstanding Senior - Aremy Salazar
By Katie Frey
Each year, departments and units across the College of Social Science name an outstanding senior who has made a lasting impression on the students, faculty and staff in the department. This year, MSU Department of Human and Development Family Studies (HDFS) named Aremy Salazar their outstanding senior.
“A couple different experiences I enjoyed from the department were the many classes that I was able to learn real life experiences and unveil an aspect of myself or my family as a system,” Salazar said. “I also enjoyed the many panels, symposiums, and especially the Women's Leadership Institute.”
Salazar is graduating with a major in HDFS and a double minor in Spanish and Chicano/Latino Studies and hopes to continue her education to become a pediatric therapist.
She chose MSU because she came from a small school and wanted to get out of her comfort zone.
“HDFS was the only major that stood out to me, and I knew I could learn a lot which is why I chose it,” she said.
During her time at MSU, Salazar was also involved with Culturas de Las Razas Unidas, an organization that houses and supports many of the Chicanx/Latinx organizations on campus for political, social, cultural, and academic issues that addresses the Chicanx/Latinx student community at Michigan State University. C.R.U. also serves as a cohesive voice of the Latinx community by advocating for issues that affect the Latinx community at Michigan State University.
“I was able to meet great friends from that organization,” she said.
Congratulations to Aremy Salazar and good luck!
