Anneliese Samples (she/her) is a doctoral student in Human Development and Family Studies with a concentration in Diversity, Youth, and Family Development and specialization in Women and Gender Studies. With the support of her faculty advisor is Dr. Deborah Johnson Anneliese’s research currently focuses on racial socialization and its impact on sexual communication and sex education. Through her current and future research, she hopes to develop tools and programs to better the sexual communication among Black couples and families. Her research works to not only educate but also inform parents and families on ways to approach these topics with their youth and spouses to better communication, satisfaction, and lessen risky sexual behaviors.
