Bio

My name is Tiantian Sun (she/her/hers) and I am a doctoral student in Human Development and Family Studies with a concentration in Child Development. I work with Drs. Ryan Bowles and Sarah Douglas in two wonderful labs (ELLI: http://www.ellilab.com/ and RADD: https://raddlab.hdfs.msu.edu/). My research interests are supporting language and literacy development of children with complex communication needs (CCN) in the context of preschool and family. I am currently involved in multiple research projects addressing the following research goals: (1) examining the effects of intervention strategies (including aided language modeling, providing communication opportunities, prompt with time delay, and reinforcement) supporting language and literacy development of young children with CCN; (2) understanding perspectives and experience of using augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) for families with culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds who have a child with CCN; (3) exploring the relation between home learning environment and the development of language and literacy skills of preschool children.
