Lifespan Human Development and Family Diversity

My name is Finneran Muzzey (they/them) and I am a doctoral student in Human Development and Family Studies with a concentration in Lifespan Human Development and Family Diversity. My faculty advisor is Dr. Megan Maas. My research interests lie in two broad areas: methodological and ethical concerns in conducting research with marginalized populations and positive development of queer romantic relationships and the queer sexual self-concept. I’m currently working on a phenomenological examination of chosen names among Transgender and Nonbinary young adults. My dissertation work will develop and validate the Transgender Sexual Self-Concept Questionnaire, a tool that will be able to be implemented effectively and efficiently in both research and clinical settings. My primary research goals center on elevating Transgender, Nonbinary, and Queer voices to improve their sexual and mental health as informed by queer and sexual scripting theories.
