Bio
My name is Loria Kim (she/her/hers) and I am a doctoral student in Human Development and Family Studies with a concentration in Child Development. My advisors are Drs. Claire Vallotton and Holly Brophy-Herb. My research interests are the social-emotional development of infants and toddlers, and the infant-toddler workforce, particularly teacher preparation and professional development for high quality and equitable care and education of young children. My interests developed through my own professional experiences working with infants and toddlers in university based childcare centers and laboratory schools. I am involved multiple projects examining infant-toddler teacher stress and coping strategies, identifying pre-service teachers’ beliefs and attitudes about infant-toddler development, and using the science of child development to create a research-based infant toddler curriculum as a free and publicly available resource for educators working with diverse children of color in metropolitan areas.
