Bio

My name is Abigail Cudney and I am a Masters student in Human Development and Family Studies. My advisors are Drs. Erica Tobe and Francisco Villarruel. My interests and experience as a licensed bachelor social worker have led me to study trauma and its impact across the lifespan on health outcomes. Specifically, I am interested in trauma-informed approach to program service delivery in my professional role with MSU Extension as a community health program instructor. I was trained in the first cohort of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) Community Champions through the MI ACE Initiative to offer community trainings on this topic. The professional master’s program in Human Development and Family Studies strengthens the work that I am doing to bring ACEs/trauma information to communities across the state to increase awareness, educate the public, influence organizational policy, and prevent/reduce the impact of ACEs.
